I've browsed the support center quite a bit on this subject, but all your answers seems to be that my network connection is probably insufficient. I did a bit of testing while watching the Dota 2 International English stream and I noticed a few things:
- At 720p my network utilization is at approximately 250 KB/s and the stream runs smoothly.
- When I increase to 1080p the network utilization *drops* to around 150 KB/s and the stream video stutters horribly, looking more like a slow slide show than a video. The audio usually plays smoothly though.
These observations has convinced me that the terrible 1080p experience is *not* an issue with my internet connection. However, I'm not seeing a lot of complaints about stream lag in the chat, so I still think it's an issue on my end. (Alternatively, most of the stream viewers could be watching at 720p like me?)
Speed tests and torrent downloads agree that my maximum down speed is ca. 2.5 MB/s (10 Mb/s)
So why do 1080p streams lag? Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong on your end?
